Y o g a 

As a nursing student in college I was drawn to the practices & teachings of Yoga. I have since dedicated my life to deepening my connection to them, and preserving and sharing the sacred teachings of Yoga with others. This practice & all of the teachers I've had the pleasure of learning from have been there for me. I have shown up to the mat to celebrate, to grieve, to give thanks, to process, to love & yes, to move my body.

The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj’, meaning ‘to join’ or ‘to yoke’ or ‘to unite’. As per Yogic scriptures the practice of Yoga leads to the union & harmonization of mind, body & spirit. 

​

Yoga serves as a practice of deepening our awareness of the ‘Self.’ Through the mindful movements of yoga, we gain insights into the intricacies of our bodies, learning how they operate and respond. This awareness extends to our minds, helping us to recognize thought patterns, connect with our inner peace, and find clarity.

 

Additionally, yoga offers a unique lens to examine our emotional responses, inviting us to be more than mere reactors to all of life's stimuli. By engaging in this practice of self-exploration, we create room for calm, conscious, & thoughtful interaction with ourselves and the world around us.

I share yoga in a way that encourages students to find their own essence, incorporating and respecting ancient traditions while adhering to safe practices, anatomical alignment and energetic awareness.  Classes have an emphasis on creating a sacred, intentional space; weaving in a connection to nature, mantra, mudras, bandhas, chakras, meditation and pranayama, this offering of yoga is a conscious journey of exploration and self-inquiry.
